Did you know it’s not just the sun that we need to protect our skin from!!!

Did you know your home appliances can cause your skin harm too.

There is new evidence that encourages us to protect our skin with sunscreen that also has IR Ray protection and HEV protection. What are these you ask?

*IRA Rays* IRA rays penetrate the skin deeper than either UVA or UVB rays, passing through the epidermis and dermis into the subcutaneous layer. These rays are the warmth you feel on your skin when you're out in the sun, but they also generate nasty free radicals that cause collagen breakdown and accelerate skin aging. The majority of the energy emitted by the sun is through infrared radiation. The majority of IR comes from the sun, but IR can also come from man made sources of heat, such as appliances we use regularly, our hair dryers, radiators to heat homes, and even devices we use to cure our nails. *HEV* High Energy Visible Light is all around us. It's part of the light we can see. It's been around for just as long as UV rays, but while much has been written about their effect on our skin, the molecular and visible effect of HEV Light on skin is a more recent discovery. UV rays and HEV light affect the skin differently. Compared to UV rays (both UVA and UVB rays) HEV light penetrates the skin even more deeply. UV rays have the potential of causing DNA damage, linked to skin cancer. However HEV light is linked to premature skin againg.
